近日，宁波诺丁汉大学建筑和建筑环境系大四学生方康文以港澳台研究生招生第一名的成绩被同济大学建筑学录取。
他表示，能被国内最负盛名的建筑院校之一录取，他觉得既意外又欣喜。意外的是，没想到第一次就能考取并拔得头筹。欣喜的是，不负四年宁诺时光，凭借出色的实力和深入的思考，他得以继续追寻自己的梦想。
毕业设计是“素食图书馆”
眼前的方康文穿着一身休闲运动服，不好意思地挠挠头，笑着说道，“我不是学霸啦！我做设计只要自己开心，就够了。”
出生于台商家庭，方康文从小便跟随父母在上海求学。高中毕业后，他根据学测成绩选择申请宁波诺丁汉大学。
当时我就想申请一个能自己动脑，有创造力的一个专业。缘分让我选到了宁诺建筑系，然后我越学越喜欢。设计是一个很主观的东西，每个人都有自己的审美。我的标准是我设计的建筑首先要是一个我全力以赴，让自己开心的作品。
他的毕业作品设计了一个“素食图书馆”，是他给自己四年学习的一个答卷。他希望以这个概念性的设计让人们了解不同国家的素食文化，学习如何烹饪美味的蔬菜，引导人们健康生活以及体验可持续的环境。
“在我设计的这个建筑里，人们不仅可以烹饪他们的美食，同时我也设计了一个很大的场地，用于种植新鲜的蔬菜。所以它是一个自给自足、环境友好的可持续建筑。”
计划在大陆展开职业生涯
方康文记得，大三暑期，许多同学都在忙着国外申研的时候，他已经打定主意要申请国内研究生。
我觉得四年我已经体验了真正的国际化教育，所以首选还是在大陆的院校进行深造。而且我希望未来能够在大陆就业。
在方康文看来，宁诺的学习让他最受益匪浅的是一整套全流程建筑的思维和逻辑。“不是说拿到一块地，构成一个功能，就直接做建筑。而是说要有对场地的理解，对使用用户的理解，对未来功能的理解。”这一点，他在同济大学研究生笔试和面试的快题测试和讲解中给予了充分的融入。
让方康文体会深刻的还有宁诺开放的学术思想和氛围。
因为每年的实操课都是我们的重磅课程，所以我有三位学术上的导师。我从不同的老师地方接受到了不同的逻辑和方法。然后我自己判断，在某个情境用哪一种方法去解决问题更好。这就是很开放的学术氛围。我认为不论做什么，有自己的判断，不人云亦云， 是很重要的。
扎实的业务能力、独立的思辨能力，加上流利的英文表达，方康文在面试中将他在笔试中完成的设计娓娓道来，赢得了考官们的一致好评。

业余生活中方康文是一个十足的活跃分子。他曾参与学生组织AIESEC，在学校港澳台办公室实习，协助港澳台学生联合会的活动策划与组织工作。“很多港澳台学生不像我这么活跃，很多人都是第一次来到宁波。我觉得像港澳台学生联合会就是一个很好的平台把我们凝结在一起，大家一起克服不适应，也互相交流熟识。”
即将挥别母校，方康文表示，泰康东路199号是他梦想的起点。“在宁诺，我收获了坦荡交心的好朋友，结识了有趣睿智的学者和长辈。点点滴滴的亲身体验和经验，我觉得这一趟收获满满。”
UNNC graduate admitted to Tongji University as top scorer among HMT students
Kangwen Fang, a graduate of the Department of Architecture and Built Environment at the University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC), has received an offer from Tongji University’s Department of Architecture to continue his postgraduate study. Ranked first among the Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan (HMT) postgraduate admission tests, he is now able to pursue his dream in the most prestigious university in the field of architecture in China.
“I wanted to apply for a major which requires in-depth thinking and creativity,” Kangwen said, and he chose to study architecture at UNNC after graduating from a high school in Shanghai. “And the more I studied architecture, the more I enjoyed it. Design is very subjective and everyone has their own aesthetic judgement. My criteria are that I must be fully devoted to my piece of design and it must make me happy.”
For his graduation project, Kangwen designed a “vegetarian library”, aiming to present people with the diverse vegetarian cultures of different countries and guide them to live a healthy life in a sustainable environment. “In this building that I designed, people can not only make their cuisine, but also grow fresh vegetables. It is a self-sufficient, eco-friendly and sustainable building.”
Having experienced international education in UNNC, Kangwen decided to pursue further studies in China, where he also hopes to seek his future career. In Kangwen’s view, what benefited him at UNNC the most was the thinking and logical framework of architecture, which requires understanding of the site, the users, and its future function. He explicated this viewpoint in the written exams and interviews of Tongji University.
Besides, the open-mindedness and the academic atmosphere at UNNC also impressed Kangwen. “I learned different logic modes and methods from different professors and am able to apply them under various circumstances. I think it’s important to have one’s own opinions,” he said. The distinctive professional skills, independent thinking, English proficiency, and excellent performance in exams and interview earned Kangwen many praises from the examiners.
In his spare time, Kangwen has actively participated in various extra-curricular activities. He has been part of the AIESEC student organisation and completed an internship at the Global Engagement Office of UNNC, assisting in the planning and organising of events for the HMT Students’ Union. “Many HMT students are not as active as I am. I think the HMT Students’ Union is a good platform to unite us and overcome our difficulties.”
